Satsumaimo Jelly

Moyokan Recipe - Satsumaimo Jelly



A nice Japanese dessert recipe....try this one !
Ingredients:

* 1 lb. satsumaimo or sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
* 2/3 cup sugar
* 1 tsp agar agar (kanten) powder
* 1 1/4 cup water

Instructions:
Put satsumaimo and water enough to cover the satsumaimo in a medium pot. Bring it to a boil over high heat. Boil the satsumaimo until softened. Drain and put the boiled satsumaimo in a bowl. Add sugar and mash well. Put measured water in a saucepan and dissolve agar agar powder in, heating over medium heat. Stop the heat. Mix the agar agar liquid in mashed satsumaimo well. Rub it through a strainer and pour into rectangular containers. Chill in the refrigerator until firm. Cut the yokan into small rectangular pieces to serve. Ingredients:

* 2 tsp agar agar power
* 1 1/4 cup water
* 3 Tbsp sugar
* 1 1/4 cup orange juice
* 1 orange, peeled and sectioned

Instructions :
Put water in a medium sauce pan and dissolve agar agar powder in. Put it on medium heat and bring to a boil, stirring well. Turn down the heat to low and simmer for a few minutes. Dissolve sugar in. Stop the heat. Add orange juice and stir well. Place orange in a flat container or in four glass bowls. Pour orange juice mixture over orange pieces. Cool until set. The Japanese dessert recipe is ready to serve....enjoy the dessert !

Japanese Dessert Recipe Ingredients:

* 2 large eggs
* 1 cup flour
* 2/3 cup sugar
* 1/2 cup butter
* 1 tbsp maccha (green tea powder)
* 1/2 tsp baking powder

Japanese Dessert Recipe Instructions
Cream butter in a bowl. Add sugar in the butter and mix well. Gradually add beaten eggs and stir well. Sift flour, baking powder, and green tea powder together and add the flour to the egg mixture. Pour the batter into a buttered loaf pan. Bake in preheated 340 degrees F oven for about 30-40 minutes. The Japanese dessert recipe makes 4 servings..enjoy i!

Japanese Dorayaki Dessert Recipe
Japanese Dessert Recipe Ingredients:

* 3 eggs
* 2/3 cup sugar
* 1/2 tsp baking soda
* 3 Tbsp water
* 1 cup flour, sifted
* 3/4 lb anko (sweet azuki beans)
* *vegetable oil for frying

Japanese Dessert Recipe Instructions :
Put eggs and sugar in a bowl and whisk very well. Dissolve baking soda in water. Add the water in the egg mixture. Add sifted flour in the egg mixture gradually. Heat a skillet or hot plate and lightly oil it. Pour a scoop of the batter into the skillet and make a small pancake. (*about 4 inches in diameter.) Turn over when bubbles appear on the surface. Repeat this process to make 8-10 pancakes. Cool the pancakes. Make pairs of pancakes and put a scoop of anko sweet beans between them.
*Makes 4 or 5 dorayaki cakes...enjoy the Japanese dessert !

Daigakuimo Japanese Dessert Recipe

Japanese Dessert Recipe Ingredients:

* 1 pound sweet potatoes
* 1/3 cup sugar
* 1 tsp soy sauce
* 2 tbsp water
* 1 tsp sesame seeds
* Vegetable oil for frying

Japanese Dessert Recipe Instructions:
Cut sweet potatoes into bite-sized pieces. Heat the oil and fry the sweet potatoes at 350F until brown. Mix water, sugar, and soy sauce in a pan. Put the pan on low heat. When the liquid turns sticky, remove from the heat and add fried sweet potatoes. Quickly mix the potatoes with the sticky sugar. Sprinkle sesame seeds over the coated sweet potatoes.

Daifuku Japanese Dessert Recipe

Daifuku Japanese Dessert Recipe
Japanese Dessert Recipe Ingredients:

* 1 cup shiratama-ko (glutinous rice flour)
* 1/4 cup sugar
* 2/3 cup water
* *For filling
* 2/3 cup water & 1 cup sugar & 1/2 cup dried anko powder, or 1 1/4 cup premade anko
* *katakuriko (porato starch) for dusting

JAPANESE DESSERT RECIPE INSTRUCTIONS
Heat 2/3 cup of water and 1/2 cup of sugar in a small pot. Add 1/4 cup of anko powder and stir well. Cool the anko filling. Make 12 small anko balls and set aside. Put water and sugar in a heat-resistant bowl and mix well. Add shiratama-ko flour in the bowl and mix well. Put the bowl in microwave and heat the dough for two minutes. Stir the dough. Heat the dough in microwave until the dough inflates. Stir the mochi quickly. Dust a flat pan with some katakuri-ko starch. Also, dust hands with some katakuri-ko. Remove the hot mochi from the bowl to the pan by hands. Dust hands with more katakuri-ko starch and divide the mochi into 12 pieces by hands. The mochi is hot and sticky, so be careful not to burn your hands. Make 12 flat and round mochi. Put a piece of anko filling on a mochi and wrap the anko by stretching mochi. Rounds the daifuku. Repeat the process to make daifuku cakes.
*Makes 12 daifuku.

Japanese Dessert Recipe Ingredients:

* 1/4 lb. kabocha
* 2 Tbsp butter
* 3 Tbsp sugar
* 1 egg yolk
* 2/3 cup flour
* 1/4 tsp baking powder

Japanese Dessert Recipe Instructions :
Cut kabocha into large chunks. Steam kabocha in the microwave until softened. Peel kabocha and mash in a bowl. Mix butter and sugar in another bowl. Add mashed kabocha in the bowl. Mix well. Add an egg yolk and stir well. Sift flour and baking powder together. Add the flour in the bowl. Mix the dough. Rest the dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 340 degrees F. Flatten the cookie dough on floured board and cut into your favorite shapes. Place a cooking sheet in a baking pan and place shaped cookie dough on the sheet. Bake cookies in 340F oven for 15-20 minutes. The Japanese Dessert recipe makes 16 small cookies or 8 large cookies,..enjoy it !

Japanese Dessert Ingredients:

* 1 2/3 cup shiratama-ko (glutinous rice flour)
* 1/2 - 2/3 cup water
* 1 1/2 cup anko

Japanese Dessert Recipe INSTRUCTIONS

Put shiratama-ko in a bowl. Add water slowly until the dough becomes as soft as earlobes. Knead the dough. Make small oval-shaped dumplings. Boil water in a large pan and add the dumplings. Boil the dumplings until they float. Remove the dumplings and cool in cold water. Drain the water and serve dumplings in individual plates and put anko (sweet azuki beans) on the top...and the Japanese dessert recipe of azuki is ready to serve..enjoy it !

Japanese Dessert Recipe Ingredients:

* For kanten jelly: 1 2/3 cup water / 1/2 stick kanten (agar-agar) / 6 Tbsp sugar / 1 tsp lemon juice
* For syrup: 1/4 cup water / 2/3 cup sugar / 2 Tbsp lemon juice
* For toppings: 1/3 cup anko (sweet azuki bean paste)/ a can of peaches, or oranges

JAPANESE DESSERT RECIPE INSTRUCTIONS
Soak kanten in water for one hour. Squeeze and tear the kanten into small pieces. Put 1 2/3 cup of water in a medium pan and put on low heat. Add kanten pieces and sugar in the pan. Bring to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring well. Strain the liquid and pour in a flat container and cool to firm. Mix 1/4 cup of water and 2/3 cup sugar in a sauce pan and heat to dissolve the sugar. Add lemmon juice in the syrup and cool. Cut kanten jelly into small cubes. Serve kanten jelly and fruits in individual bowls. Pour syrup over the jelly and fruits and top with anko.

Japanese Dessert Ingredients:

* 1/2 lb. or 1 1/3 cup azuki beans
* 2 cup Japanese Johakuto (white sugar), or 1 1/4 cup granulated sugar *adjust the sweetness to your preference
* 1 tsp salt

Japanese Dessert INSTRUCTIONS
Put lots of water in deep pot. Soak azuki beans in the water overnight. Heat the beans on high heat and bring to a boil. Turn down the heat to medium and simmer beans for about 10 minutes. Drain the beans. Put the azuki beans in the pot again and add about four cups of water. Heat the azuki and bring to a boil. Turn down the heat to low and simmer the azuki beans for about one hour, or until softened. Drain the liquid from the pot. Add sugar and salt in the beans. Stir and simmer beans until thickened. Stop the heat and cool the anko. The Japanese dessert recipe of Anko is ready to serve...nice !

Ingredients:

* 4 inch-thick white bread with crust edge
* 4 Tbsp butter
* 3 Tbsp honey
* 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream

Instructions :
Preheat the oven to 360 degree F. Place bread, crust edge down, on a cutting board. Cut the inner bread along the crust and cut it into cubes. Spread butter on top of the bread. Put it in the oven and bake for about 10 minutes, or until golden brown. Serve it on a plate with honey and ice cream on top. The Japanese dessert recipe of honey butter toast is ready ! Nice !

Ingredients:

* 1 Tbsp maccha (green tea powder)
* 2/3 cup granulated sugar
* 2 cups water

Instructions:
Combine granulated sugar and green tea powder in a bowl. Put 2 cups of water and the sugar mixture in a sauce pan. Heat until sugar dissolves. Soak the pan in a bowl of cold water to cool the liquid to room temperature. Pour the liquid in a freezer-safe container and put it in a freezer. Stir the sorbet every 30 minutes or one hour. Freeze until sorbet is alomost frozen. Serve into glasses. The Japanese dessert recipe is ready to serve...nice !

Japanese Shaved Ice with Green Tea Syrup and Anko
Ingredients:

* 1 tsp green tea powder
* 2 tsp granulated sugar
* 2 Tbsp sweetened condensed milk
* 2 Tbsp anko
* * ice cubes or a block of ice

Insructions
Dissolve green tea powder and granulated sugar in 2 Tbsp of hot water. Cool the syrup and put in a small serving bowl. Shave ice over the green tea syrup, using a home shaved ice machine. Top with anko. Pour sweetened condensed milk over the ice. The Japanese dessert recipe is ready to serve....nice and refreshing !
